MCR’s R34

That gauge cluster is amazing and it simplifies the cluster and the need for gauges. But I like the idea of having a few gauges on the pillar, maybe one or two on the column, and the glorious STACK gauge cluster. I have everything on my STACK setup like a regular cluster. Oil pressure, water temp, gas amount, and speed are in the date center. On the sides of the STACK cluster I have boost pressure and an Air/Fuel ratio display from FJO. On the pillar I have oil temp, fuel pressure, and intake manifold pressure. The car is pretty tightly monitored and I like it like that. The Motec also has a crap ton of sensors on it that I can enable. When I get the car back I’ll be working on a way to mount the ECU and some of the other gadgets I have with it. The setup is like this I’ve got the M800 ECU hooked up with an ACL data logger and power distribution block. The wiring harness is covered in heat resistant loom and has, of course, mil spec connectors. I spent a lot of time on my harness.

Just thinking

leave a comment »

I was just thinking about the Supra project while the shop is pretty empty. I mean there are a lot of things going on with it. Full Race fired off an email to me this morning. They just finished the manifolds to fit my HKS 3240s and they look amazing. So far I am the second person to run twin 3240s. The first person was my inspiration after seeing the horsepower numbers. Plus I figure I’ve always had single’d Supras, why not go twins? They’ll have to arrive in pieces so I can do final assembly, but it is a true work of art. My Hypertune manifold is in too. Just the runners are out getting powdercoated black per my asking.

There is a lot of chrome, paint, and carbon fiber under the hood.  I’m just surprised how well this all coming together. My quad plate OS Giken clutch came in as well today. I have it sititng on my desk right, assembled, and it’s tiny to how I thought it would actually look.

The daily updates from Brian Crower aren’t bad either because they are actually doing the porting and engine work to get their stroker kit to fit. While a head is off in Jersey at HeadGames getting the Brian Crower valve train and 280 cams to fit. All of the stuff is supposed to be here in the period of two days. The Full Race and Brian Crower boxes will be dropped off by UPS on Monday. OS Giken and HeadGames will be here on Tuesday. While I should have the car on Monday night.

So I have the equation down.

HKS + Motec + OS Giken + Full Race + Brian Crower + HyperTune + HeadGames = Success.

Gold box!

My Motec came in today and I put the software on my laptop. Called some people got some maps. This little gold box is amazing!!! The software alone is incredible. I’ll be having fun with this thing while the tuner is tuning it. Mmhmm. It fits in the corner of the closet well with all the other goodies I have for it.

Interesting lunch break

I went on over to the paint shop to check on the Supra. How the paint and installation is going. The wheels are on, the fenders and blisters are one. The body shop had just finished with priming everything. The car is looking really nice. The one problem I had was that they didn’t pull the seals. Which I asked, and they did upon asking. I have brand new ones for them to install. New hinges as well. The car will have the feel and look as if it just left the showroom floor.

Once the car gets painted I bring it back to the apartment and install some stuff on it myself. Sound deadener and check things out. Then the car will be heading to the interior shop. Getting the leather and suede treatment. Once it gets back from the interior shop the engine should be in from Full Race. Things will piece together.
