My Thanksgiving

leave a comment »

Where oh where do I start? I woke up a little early and drug the wife over to my Dad’s hanger. I had to lay eyes and sit in the 599 GTO. I started it up and gave it a couple blips. The car sounds absolutely amazing, no aftermarket exhaust needed or anything. That is the most perfect car I’ve ever sat in, rev’d, and moved around a hanger! When it warms up and we’re in California, I’m definitely going to take it out and romp on it. For sure, that car craves it. Plus it’s one of the few black cars in my Dad’s all white collection.

We really didn’t have lunch at my parents’ place, we saved room for dinner. Because it was, and usually is, a few courses long. For starters my Mom made this turkey sushi. At first I thought it would be pretty gross, but it turned out pretty well. Even the wife loved it, which is unusual for her since she “likes” sushi. After all of the sushi, all of it made with turkey, we napped. The next course consisted of deep fried turkey. Yes, we had everything when it came to sides. Stuffing, macaroni and cheese, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, and oh lord I’m salivating as I write this. We took another little nap, then my Mom brought out dessert. Little cupcakes of pumpkin pie, crust and all, coconut cream pie, and Boston cream pie. After that we passed out for pretty much the rest of the night. It was pretty ridiculous, I won’t lie.

This morning my Dad and I talked about his collection and my small collection. We joked at one point how I was juggling different projects and rides. At one point I owned Blackie, an S14, a GTR, a CLK BS, and the wife’s Escalade. He is happy I’ve consolidated down to just Blackie, the GTR, and the wife’s Cayenne. But due to some circumstances, the GTR might be parting ways with us and we’ll be picking up another Benz. Either a C63 or a S63. Depends on how the wife feels when we get closer to our trip to Italy.

So excited

I had to wait a day to make this update. Because I got a phone call earlier yesterday. Full Race was actually finishing up the work on the fabricating yesterday. This morning they sent me video of the car starting up and making a couple revs while in the shop. It was pretty loud because of the open downpipes. They had to re-work them because of the manifolds and turbos. The twin GT35Rs look so amazing. The exhaust is getting touched up for the two into one pipe. The only part of the exhaust the remained relatively normal is the four inch piece to the Burns SS muffler. If everything works out the wife and I are going to drive out to Arizona and take a look of it over. Possibly drive it back, depending on the weather in Va when we leave.

Putting some things into motion

With Blackie sitting in Arizona getting some massaging done by Full Race. I’m happy those guys are so cool, Geoff is a blast to work with. Once some more things open up, Blackie will be getting the new setup. Once the twin GT35Rs are mated to their manifolds Blackie will return to my possession. From there I’ll be working with our carbon fiber fabricator. Get some ducts made to get the front and rear brakes some cooler air while driving. I want to do some other cooling mods like a differential cooler and maybe a transmission cooler. I would really like to prevent as much heat soak as possible. Fun runs and track days can get taxing on the cooling system. So some brake ducts, coolers, and some fans will work out pretty well. I just have to work around Full Race’s work and the DoLuck kit. Which I’d rather do then have Full Race work around me. I’ll make things work no problem.

It’s that time again

We’re driving back to White Forest on Sunday. Taking a nice little drive across the country in Blackie! Yes. I changed my mind, I got it tuned for California’s 91 and when I get to 93, I’ll follow the directions and update the tune. The car can make 750ish on 93. Which is still pretty fast for a street car, even though it is a step down from the 1100 it usually makes. Lucky for me when the winter hits, the car is getting sent back to Full Race. I have a few things planned, I’m hoping they come together relatively easy. I’ll be making a few trips to Arizona. It’ll be a pretty fun project over the winter.

What a day

Saturday was a blast, the wife and I went and picked up Dad’s Scuderia from the shop he had it at. He went from Kreissieg level 3 to level five. It went from loud to Armageddon. Easiest way to sum it up really. I let the wife drive it on the way home, she got some fun out of it. When we got home, I climbed into Blackie and ventured onto Mulholland with her. She’s getting a hand at this driving thing. I might tell Dad we need the Scuderia for a little more. It’s got the right amount of power for her and it’s nimble enough for her. I trust her going in a straight line with the GTR, the power is a little much for her to turn in it.

With today being Independence Day, the wife have been relaxing around the house with our dogs.  I’m only up to make lunch for the wife. So I figured I would make a daily blog at the moment. Turkey, ham, and cheese sandwiches for lunch. A little bit of these Pringles I found, blazin’ buffalo wings, awesome flavor. Not hot, but still tasty. I’m going back to the living room with the wife.

Yesterday, the team scored our first win of the season! We took first place at Long Beach. It created a wonderful buzz around the shop this morning and our phones blew up yesterday. It feels good to win, it feels even better to know that we did this in such a quick fashion. When the car comes back tomorrow we’ll be having a celebration and probably a nice party day at the shop. I know a few things are already bought for it. I can’t wait, I heard they haven’t even cleaned it up. Left it in win status until it gets back here.

In the meantime I’m still looking for a good daily driver for when I get out to California. The 240sx project will be looked at tomorrow. The Escalade has non stop tire kickers. Well, the GTR is going back to my Dad. So he has my CLK63 AMG and his GTR back. Luck is on my side and he’s just going to replace the GTR with one I find. Call me spoiled, but my Dad knows how much that GTR meant to Laline, so in reality. She’s going to find the one that replaces it. As it was her GTR, that I mod’d and drove. I would really like to downsize and keep a car in California. That might end up end up being Blackie. Hell it might end up being all of the cars and both Ducatis due to the weather around here. I don’t know it’s all pretty complicated to me at the moment. I’m turning an anthill into a mountain.
