Nissan Project Update

I’ve been working on the car here and there since it got back from the paint shop on weekends. I have the front bumpers, rear bumpers, and hood off the car. But everything body wise is pretty much on the car. The DMax Type 1 aero kit is what I went with. The side skirts are the only bits on the car right now. The red looks amazing in the spot where I’m working. I’ve put the suspension in and I went with Stance GR+ 3 Way coilovers. For other footwork I went with Battle Version everything. The adjustable front lower control arms, adjustable rear lower control arms, rear toe links, rear upper control arms, tension rods, and traction rods are all from Battle Version. It sits mighty nicely, the gold MB Battle wheels look nice around the black Brembo brakes. All of the footwork is done.

Today when I left the shop, I decided to do some quick work, and I may be able to move the car into the shop once we’re done re-organizing. But I put on the R34 VSpec II brake master and power steering pump and reservoir. I just wanted to do something a little different with the steering stuff. I may pull the trigger on the R34 steering rack as well, it has a way better feel and it reacts quicker to the inputs from the steering wheel.

I have sourced a new motor, and I’m waiting for it to come back from the machine shop. It was a good motor for us to start working on. The Brian Crower 2.2L and valve train is getting fitted to the head and block so I can throw the clutch and transmission on it before I put it in the car. I still have all of the turbo side and intake side parts sitting at the apartment. As many readers of this blog may know, I’m a Full Race fanatic, so of course I went with them. The dual wastegate twin scroll T4 manifold looks amazing. It will be matched up with the twin scroll GT35R. I’ll be making 500hp to drive it on the street, and if there’s a drift track day, I’ll bump it up to 700hp. I really hope I can get the wife to drive the car sometime too.

Nissan Project Update #2

Since I’m currently in Florida, I’m doing this update via photos I’ve received. The body shop has delivered the car to my storage. It’s on the stock suspension and wheels. I am still locating a fresh SR20 motor to use for the build up because the previous one was trash. Absolute trash. It’s just going to be a motor that gets worked over for new. But it needs a good starting point, like a non cracked block. Which could only tell me what that head went through. The transmission was good, so it stayed. The interior is going to be simple, this car is meant to be the beater and daily ride in the warmer months. Blackie’s interior is certainly one to write home about. But this blog is about the 240sx. Maybe some buckets, a nice leather and suede combo, and a Nardi?

Today I got some news from the body shop. The 240sx will be done in the middle of next week. Fresh coats of paint everywhere. The body checked out to be great. No rust spots, nothing at all. So they just primed it and painted it. It’ll look pretty dope when the car is done. They also started on the aero pieces too. Straight from DMax to the body shop. I’ve been going to these guys since I moved here. They painted Blackie, my old drift car, and did the paint work on my old M3. They do amazing work.

In motor news, the block was a complete waste of time. Stress cracks everywhere, the motor’s owner didn’t take care of it at all. Which surprises that it’s from an S13 in Japan. But that’s okay, I’m going to find another motor to use, I wish that motor would have worked out. It’d have been a nice thing to not get set back on this project. But I have all winter to deal with it.

Drifting with a little class

The 240sx project is on the way, I picked up a couple things for it today at work. But after I finish my snack, I’m going to the garage to work on the car some. The Supra and Benz have been put in storage. So that little space is open for me to work on the car. Today is going to be spent stripping the car down. This is probably the best part of the build up to be honest with you guys. I really like getting the feel of seeing a car’s history. The items I find during the process are interesting. When I built the Supra before Blackie, there were quite a few things I found. A thong, a condom wrapper, sixteen dollars in change, and a sock. A SOCK! I was surprised that I found a sock, not a pair, but a sock!

Winter Project

leave a comment »

Well, today, the wife and I went out and came home with my winter project. It’s no secret, I’ve been wanting a 240sx recently. I found one I like, we even test drove it for the afternoon. I know odd for a bone stock car. but I wanted to make sure this one is it. And it is. It’s a 1998 240sx SE. Five lug already done, five speed transmission. It has a sunroof, but you know what? That’s okay, I don’t care really. The car is going to be for Laline and I to just go out and beat on. By the time the winter months are over. The car will be better than when it came off the showroom floor in 98. All new everything.
