Today was a good day

Since we’re working on some minor bits for the 2011 season on the GT3RSR and the carbon fiber fabricator was in the shop. I showed him my Supra. We talked over some carbon fiber ducts and stuff on the Supra. I want some brake ducts made for the front and rears. We also made a small conversation about an air box for the twin turbos. Maybe doing a divided duct for the front passenger brake duct and intake duct. As it sits right now the Supra has only the side skirts and spoiler on it. No rear side skirts, rear diffuser, hood, or front bumper. I’m going to trim the front bumper some because of the new turbo to intercooler pipes are just a bit different than my original setup. The trimming is the only real solution. I am NOT ordering a new bumper from DoLuck due to how much time it takes for them to make and ship crap. Other than that, the Supra is coming along nicely. Hopefully it will be together for Christmas. So I can trailer it down to Miami for when we visit the wife’s family.

What a weekend!

We, as some of you may know, took the Cayenne Turbo to Utah this weekend. We went to the ALMS race with the team. It was a pretty dope weekend I might add. We ran into a little bit of trouble in practice. Just a tad actually, most people saw it on the news. The car caught fire and we spent all night getting a spare car up and repaired. The team managed to pull off a fifth place finish it was actually pretty sweet. The drive back to LA was pretty fun yesterday. Spent the day relaxing and just watching the clouds roll over. Tomorrow we’re supposed to teach the puppies how to swim in the pool.

Still recovering

I am still sore and a bit hung over from yesterday as I write this, but yesterday was really crazy. It was my first race that I’ve been at with the team. The wife and I had on our team polos, credentials, and it was pretty awesome walking around. Our team was pretty on point yesterday. We battled with Flying Lizard the entire race, in both the pits and on the track. We just couldn’t get around them at all. The Flying Lizard team is a great group of people and we actually shook hands after the race. It was pretty much a team thought that if we were to come in second behind anyone, it would be those guys. Yes, we scored second place in our class. The final lap, the difference between our RSRs was .8 seconds. We did party it out though after. A nice dinner, a well deserved one for our drivers, and then we went out to a club. Congrats guys, let’s carry this over to Utah!

Yesterday, the team scored our first win of the season! We took first place at Long Beach. It created a wonderful buzz around the shop this morning and our phones blew up yesterday. It feels good to win, it feels even better to know that we did this in such a quick fashion. When the car comes back tomorrow we’ll be having a celebration and probably a nice party day at the shop. I know a few things are already bought for it. I can’t wait, I heard they haven’t even cleaned it up. Left it in win status until it gets back here.

In the meantime I’m still looking for a good daily driver for when I get out to California. The 240sx project will be looked at tomorrow. The Escalade has non stop tire kickers. Well, the GTR is going back to my Dad. So he has my CLK63 AMG and his GTR back. Luck is on my side and he’s just going to replace the GTR with one I find. Call me spoiled, but my Dad knows how much that GTR meant to Laline, so in reality. She’s going to find the one that replaces it. As it was her GTR, that I mod’d and drove. I would really like to downsize and keep a car in California. That might end up end up being Blackie. Hell it might end up being all of the cars and both Ducatis due to the weather around here. I don’t know it’s all pretty complicated to me at the moment. I’m turning an anthill into a mountain.

New stuff for the race car

leave a comment »

We hooked up with a local fabrication shop to start making us some random bits for our race car and maybe some of our own personal cars. The guy does carbon fiber and carbon kevlar fabricating. Among other materials, he’s a former NASA engineer. Which makes him very valuable to us. The more the team works on our Porsche, the more they want to work on Porsches for public. I’m all for it, it’ll build up our relationship with the fabricator and I can get a hatch made for the Supra and a trunk for the 240sx. Which has been at a stand still lately because I haven’t found time to work on it.

I have thought about selling it, but I want to get completed and get it sideways before I think about that. We have so many vehicles I really don’t know how to figure this stuff out. We’ve got the GTR, Supra, Escalade, and the 240sx. The GTR and Escalade drink more gas than a little bit. Especially with gas prices in California. The Supra and 240sx will be drinking nothing but leaded fuel. I have no idea what to do.

What a day

leave a comment »

The wife and I partied a little too hard for a Sunday night, so I had to live out most of my day with a headache. Class wasn’t so bad, I could live through it. But it was when I got to work what was bad. They were dynoing the car and getting some tuning done on it. It was really bad. Making my head thump and all. To the point to where I was seeing blurry and feeling like I was going to vomit. Then lunch time came and I was feeling a bit better. I had taken some motrin, that was helping a lot. That’s when my co-workers were like “Hey, feeling better? Why don’t you take the RSR to lunch?” The team boss has a GT3RS and he slapped the plate on there for me.

What a hell ride that was to Moe’s. I had the wife meet me there, because there is no passenger seat. It was a pretty trippy ride due to the exhaust mainly. My ears were ringing, luckily the earbuds were in the Escalade. I plugged those into my BlackBerry for the drive back to the shop. But holy shit was everyone staring at the race car in the parking lot. It was like they’ve never seen an RSR on the road before. Lots of people taking pictures, it was pretty cool. It’s last real outing before we load it up for Sebring this weekend.
