My Thanksgiving

Where oh where do I start? I woke up a little early and drug the wife over to my Dad’s hanger. I had to lay eyes and sit in the 599 GTO. I started it up and gave it a couple blips. The car sounds absolutely amazing, no aftermarket exhaust needed or anything. That is the most perfect car I’ve ever sat in, rev’d, and moved around a hanger! When it warms up and we’re in California, I’m definitely going to take it out and romp on it. For sure, that car craves it. Plus it’s one of the few black cars in my Dad’s all white collection.

We really didn’t have lunch at my parents’ place, we saved room for dinner. Because it was, and usually is, a few courses long. For starters my Mom made this turkey sushi. At first I thought it would be pretty gross, but it turned out pretty well. Even the wife loved it, which is unusual for her since she “likes” sushi. After all of the sushi, all of it made with turkey, we napped. The next course consisted of deep fried turkey. Yes, we had everything when it came to sides. Stuffing, macaroni and cheese, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, and oh lord I’m salivating as I write this. We took another little nap, then my Mom brought out dessert. Little cupcakes of pumpkin pie, crust and all, coconut cream pie, and Boston cream pie. After that we passed out for pretty much the rest of the night. It was pretty ridiculous, I won’t lie.

This morning my Dad and I talked about his collection and my small collection. We joked at one point how I was juggling different projects and rides. At one point I owned Blackie, an S14, a GTR, a CLK BS, and the wife’s Escalade. He is happy I’ve consolidated down to just Blackie, the GTR, and the wife’s Cayenne. But due to some circumstances, the GTR might be parting ways with us and we’ll be picking up another Benz. Either a C63 or a S63. Depends on how the wife feels when we get closer to our trip to Italy.

I want this so bad

It is a 100% Angus beef topped with pepper jack and yellow American cheese, sauteed onions, jalapeno peppers, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, ketchup, and Thousand Island dressing. Then it is soaked in Harp beer batter before it is deep fried to a nice golden brown. It will run you 11 bucks. Not to mention you get some fries, a pickle, and cole slaw with it. Needless to say, I want REALLY bad.

Trip to NYC

leave a comment »

After I left class Friday morning, I went straight back to the pad, to get my wife ready for our trip to NYC. My Dad shipped in his newest acquisition for us to take a little test drive in. Knowing that I had been drooling over this car since he got it a month or so ago. After picking her up and taking the Cayenne over to the shop. There it was sitting there, the most coveted of my Dad’s collection. His white Ferrari Enzo. I spent about an hour looking it over the previous day. Everyone did, we enjoyed it at the shop. The technology, the lines, and the sound. Don’t get me started on the sound, Dad loved the factory sound. But wanted more out of it. He picked up the Quicksilver Sports exhaust for it. The already loud car got even more louder. A point none of us seemed to care about.

After loading up our luggage into the front of the car, the wife and I made our trip to NYC. It was rather calm on the drive up. What didn’t help is the fact the Enzo has no radio in it. The stereo sits inches behind your head. When cruising it’s quiet in the cabin, so I just put my ear buds in and listened to music off of my BlackBerry. The car requires every single bit of your input. It’s not like Blackie where I know it’s going to go straight or how the car is going to react. With the Enzo, it’s a different story, you turn that wheel a fraction of a millimeter, the car reacts. Needless to say, it was a pretty insane drive. When we finally made it to NYC, we hit that traffic. I enjoyed it actually, the Enzo made it a nice little jaunt through NYC. A few revs for people with cameras, a little full throttle from a stop into second gear from a red light.

Once we made it to NYC, we didn’t do much driving, if not any. We did spend most of our time walking around in that crowded maze people call a city. We did a lot of eating, LOTS of it. We have a new found love when it comes to food. It’s Paella! That stuff is ridiculously amazing. It really tasted good and it was filling. New York City pizza is good, doesn’t beat Chicago style though. Hate to see it, the Chicago pizza is still my favorite. When we did go out for the night life, we found this pretty cool Japanese place. It was entirely old school Japanese with the food and the service. Wife really loved it, leaving it, we decided to hit up some clubs before we retreated to the hotel room. Well, that lasted all of twenty minutes when we realized how hardcore the attire rules are at New York City clubs. Well, I should say the clubs we wanted to go to. Heading back to the hotel was an adventure in itself. Two taxi cab rides and a hefty fair later, we made it home.

After that night, we enjoyed a nice breakfast in the hotel room. We sat over looking Central Park, it was a pretty nice time. After breakfast, I had us setup for a spa treatment. The treatment was almost as good as the one we got in Japan. It would have been higher up there if we had some of those fish munching on our feet. After that, we made our way down to the garage. It was almost a chore loading up the Enzo due to how relaxed we were. The wife checked out while I managed to get the Enzo out of the parking garage. Which was challenge in itself, even with the nose system! After making it out of the city, the wife and I switched spots. She was a little nervous at first, but once she got the feeling of the Enzo, she was doing a little bit of full throttle every now and then. I was very proud of her, maybe the more experience she gets, maybe I’ll let her drive Blackie when it’s done? I couldn’t pry her out of the seat. She drove the entire way home. People seeing her driving it was amazing. And I enjoyed it as well, it’s always fun seeing the wife drive.

Here are some pics from our weekend.

Awesome eats!

The wife and I went out tonight for a little bit of a last big dinner in LA kind of deal. We ended up at this Japanese restaurant. All of the food was amazing, but was even more amazing? The picture above is REAL lobster and cream cheese wontons. These were so good, I actually ordered some to go to eat on the drive home. No joke! I have to get Laline to make these for us.
