My weekend

What a crazy weekend it was, hanging out with Ferrari at the race in Montreal. The practice sessions, the qualifying session, and the race, all insane. I have to thank my Dad for this nonstop. He was able to get myself and the wife in on the festivities because of his stance with Ferrari. I took a helmet with me, every driver I met in the paddock signed it. Schumacher, Liuzzi, Kubica, Barrichello, Massa, Alonso, Buemi, Alguersuari, and Kobayashi. More on the Ferrari stuff later. All of these guys were approachable. I couldn’t get near the McLaren or Red Bull Renault guys as they were surrounded all the time. Schumacher was really down to earth when I approached him with my helmet. He was surprised with it, usually people have him sign Ferrari merchandise.

While in the Ferrari box, that place was awfully secretive. I talked with Alonso for a good bit at one of the practices. Even took a seat in the car. HOLY SHIT was it cramped but comfy! Cramped but comfy. I thought the Status seats and Willans harness held me tight in the Supra. That seat alone in the F10 was tight. You’re basically laying on your back while sitting in the car. It’s really comfy once you sit in there for a couple minutes. I just wished the steering wheel was in, that would have been the cream of the crop. The wife was in good spirits during the whole time. She was enjoying the race in all of her gear.

When the race began the box was quiet. I stayed quiet, so did the wife. Randomly the pit crew would burst out or clap. But for the most part it was quiet besides the cars screaming by. Occasionally a guy would run between the box and the wall. Guy was a quick little bugger. Just relaying messages or bringing stuff over. It was pretty serious stuff, even better were the stops. They now count the stops from entering pit lane and leaving the stop. If you blink or turn away for a couple seconds. YOU WILL MISS THE STOP. The wife did that once and was blown away by it all. We also weren’t allowed to have our phones out. Only people with permission could have them out. I didn’t care, I was enjoying it all. Soaking up the Tifosi energy from the source. I made a couple small conversations with Massa. He is really a genuine guy, despite his on track run in with Schumacher. I shook his hand and said “You probably hear this a lot but you took 2008 like a real man. No one could do it like that.” He thanked me.

That pretty much sums up my weekend. I have a lot of stuff to make cases for and hang up. If only I could fit into some of the stuff I got. Should hint at what I received.
